The questions we hear most about ozone, sizing, safety and service. Can't find it? Call or email β€” a real team that knows these units.

Safety & compliance

Is ozone safe?
Yes β€” when used as directed. Sonozaire units are professional shock-treatment equipment for unoccupied spaces: you clear people, pets, and plants, treat the empty room, then ventilate before anyone returns. So people aren't in the room during treatment β€” and that's exactly what makes it both safe and thorough. Afterward the ozone naturally reverts to ordinary oxygen (a 10–20 minute half-life), leaving no residue. OSHA limits ongoing exposure to 0.1 ppm over an 8-hour day, which is why treatment is always done in an empty space and then aired out.
What precautions should I take during treatment?
Secure the area so no one enters, post a "Do Not Enter" sign on the doors (free printable in the Support Center), and ventilate before re-entry. For garbage rooms and strong odors, allow at least 15–30 minutes of venting. Be aware of the sharp ozone smell β€” if you can smell it strongly, don't stay.
Are there materials ozone can damage?
Ozone attacks natural rubber and latex, so coat or remove exposed rubber (drape backs, belts, rollers, toys) before treating. Remove pets, plants, and irreplaceable items; cover fish tanks. Foam cushions covered in fabric and synthetic rubber in dry-clean fabrics are generally fine.
Is it EPA/OSHA compliant?
Used as intended β€” shock-treating an unoccupied space, then ventilating β€” the units operate within OSHA/EPA guidance. Occupied-space use requires additional controls to hold ozone below regulatory limits, which these units are not sold for. See the Safety & SDS page.

Choosing a model

How do I choose the right model?
Match your space and odor load: 105A for vehicles and small rooms, 115A for mid-size rooms and shops, 330A/630A for large spaces and facilities, and 5G for fixed installs. Use the Find your Model quiz or the comparison table.
What size unit do I need for my square footage?
As a rough guide: 105A up to ~200 sq ft, 115A up to ~600 sq ft, 330A up to ~1,800 sq ft, 630A up to ~3,700 sq ft. Stronger odors and higher ceilings call for a larger unit or longer run time. When in doubt, size up.
Can one unit cover multiple rooms?
Yes, with air movement. Running the building's HVAC blower (or a circulating fan) spreads ozone through connected spaces β€” the "soak" method. For isolated strong-odor rooms, treat each directly with the "shock" method.

Operating your unit

How long does a treatment take?
It depends on the odor and space. Shock treatments run from a couple of hours to overnight; furniture and heavy restoration items can take 12–48 hours. Stronger odors need higher output or longer exposure. Always add circulating fans to mix ozone with the odor.
What's the difference between "shock" and "soak"?
Shock: seal the room and run at maximum output to blast a strong dose that penetrates everywhere β€” best for strong, localized odors. Soak: expose a larger area to a lower level for longer, often via the HVAC return β€” best for whole-building finishing. Both need fans for mixing.
Do the units run unattended?
Yes. All models operate unattended, and optional timers let you run a set cycle and shut off automatically. The 105A and 5G include a 12-hour timer; timers and sensors are optional add-ons on the 115A/330A/630A.
Can it run on 220V?
Yes β€” 220V conversion is available on the line (the 630A supports 115V/230V), and 240V switch and timer options are listed in the parts. Choose the voltage option on the product page or ask us.

Maintenance & service

How often does it need maintenance?
Depends on how hard it runs. Outdoor units: every 1–3 months. Restoration: every couple of jobs. Dry cleaners, hotels, vehicles, air-quality: every 2–3 months. Cleaning is minor β€” filter, glass, and electrodes. Full steps on the Maintenance page.
How do I know if it needs cleaning?
Listen: with output at zero you'll hear the fan; turn it up briefly and a clean unit makes a low hissing/buzzing corona sound. No corona sound means it's dirty; a snapping/arcing sound means moisture or dirt β€” shut down and clean.
It isn't producing ozone β€” what should I check?
Confirm power and the door safety switch, check the main fuse, make sure the glass tube is seated against the gasket, raise the output, and clean the glass and electrodes. Full symptom→cause→fix list on the Troubleshooting page.
Where do I get replacement parts?
Every compatible part and accessory is listed on each product page and in the Support Center β€” filters, glass tubes, electrodes, gaskets, fuses and more. Not sure what you need? Call with your model and serial number.

Buying, shipping & warranty

What's the warranty?
Sonozaire repairs or replaces parts defective in workmanship or material within one (1) year of purchase, when returned to the factory prepaid. Improper use, inadequate maintenance, or repair by others voids coverage. Register your unit and read full terms on the Warranty page.
Will it pay for itself?
For most detailers, restorers and property managers, quickly β€” there are no chemicals to buy and it runs for pennies a cycle. Estimate your own payback with the ROI calculator.
Do you offer dealer or volume pricing?
Yes. Fleets, franchises and resellers get volume pricing. See Become a Distributor or request a quote.
